I went for a 5 km bike ride this morning. Eduardo came too. We had to turn back for him as he got tired. I wanted to continue but agreed to going back. I am in better shape then he is and he is 12 years younger that I am. Stopped on way home for coffee and fruit salad [pineapple, cantaloupe, watermelon, banana, mango, yogurt and granola]. On Sunday they close off the main avenue, Paseo Montejo, to all cars.
Now will shower and prepare dinner: Chicken Milanese, rice and beans. For dessert I will have fresh Pitaya
which is the fruit of a species of cactus and has a sweet creamy pulp, with small black seeds and a delicate aroma. Some place call it "dragon fruit".
Rest of the day is MY DAY. Tomorrow I return to the gym for early morning exercise. This next week the electrician will do some work for me in and around the house.
P.S. [to yesterday]. Attended the Saturday vigil mass at the Cathedral. There was a wedding to follow and the cathedral was elaborately decorated [and I mean elaborately] which means the couple being married had MONEY. Does that Sacrament effect you differently when your rich? Had intended to say mass home, but when I went to purchase mass wine they were all sold out. Odd, sold out of mass wine!
The priest who celebrated the vigil mass was so loud and so condescending to the people. He preached on the Our Father and said that when things don't go your way, just say the Our Father and everything will be OK. OH MY GOD! I would have taken the theme of hospitality which was in the first reading as well as the Gospel. I think that the main message of the story of Sodom and Gomorrah is the consequences of violating the law of hospitality. Hospitality is a Benedictine tradition. Creating a climate that promotes a sense of community while valuing the uniqueness of the individual. It is listening and responding sensitively to all. It is extending warmth and acceptance to each other and to all we serve. It is creating a welcoming atmosphere personally and organizationally. It is welcoming new ideas and being open to change.
Enough gibberish from me. Be hospital to one another.
